Supporting Recovery With Live-In Care
As well as daily visits and complex care, Alcedo Care specialises in round-the-clock live-in care. Live-In Care is a perfect option for those who need more intensive support with complex care needs. Here we look at how Alcedo cared for Mrs V (whose name has been changed for privacy).
We began to take care of Mrs V* in November 2022, Mrs V needs the assistance of two carers at all times to live in with her, following a car accident that left her with extensive injuries, including a spinal injury, which left her immobile. Mrs V is a fiercely independent woman who, despite her injuries had always lived an active life. But one day, she started having trouble breathing and was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was admitted to the hospital, where she stayed for several weeks. Unfortunately, during her stay, she also contracted COVID-19 and was found to have a Pulmonary Embolism.
After several more weeks of intensive care, Mrs V was discharged from the hospital, but her health had taken a turn for the worse. She had developed pressure sores and moisture legions. Mrs V was very weak and was deemed by her GP, to be at the end of her life. Her family were devastated, as were we as her caregivers.
Fortunately, Mrs V and her family were not alone, her team of dedicated Alcedo Care caregivers, continued to provide her with 24/7 Live in care. They were determined to help her recover and get back to a better quality of life.
For the next four weeks, Mrs V received round-the-clock care from her team of caregivers. They were attentive and gentle with her, providing her with the support she needed to recover from her illnesses. They treated her pressure sores with care and were always there to support her emotionally.
Over time, Mrs V’s skin healed, and she started to feel better. She was able to eat more, and her spirits lifted, she started to get back to her old self. Her caregivers and family were overjoyed to see her progress and are proud of the role they played in her recovery.
Today Mrs V remains living in her own home, with 24/7 live-in support from her caregivers. They continue to provide her with the care she needs, from personal hygiene to emotional support. They are like her family now, and Mrs V is grateful to have them by her side. She may never regain her full strength, but her spirit remains strong, and her caregivers are there to help her every step of the way.
