Our Care Assistants are the front line of the Alcedo Care family, providing person-centred care and support in people’s homes.
As an Alcedo Care care assistant, you may work with lots of different types of client, including elderly clients, adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or mental health conditions.
A care assistant is responsible for carrying out any care that helps to enrich our clients’ lives, and support them to be as independent as possible. For many this doesn’t mean leaving someone to do something on their own, but supporting them to continue to live in their own home rather than going into a residential setting.
The great news is, you can be a care assistant with no previous experience! This is because Alcedo Care offer a complete induction with both e-learning and in-person training days. We will take you through the Care Certificate, which includes necessary training such as health and safety, first aid and moving and handling. Additional specific training such as autism awareness, communication skills or working with people with dementia may be offered.
If you have previous experience in care, either looking after a friend or family member, or if you have worked in homecare or in a nursing home or hospital, you may be suitable for one of our Complex Care Assistant roles, which require at least 6 months of previous care experience.
What we will ask for is a good level of spoken or written English, and for our North Wales roles we may ask for Welsh language skills.
