Dementia Action Week 2026, from May 18th – 24th, is a national awareness campaign led by the Alzheimer’s Society. It brings people, families, communities and organisations together to take meaningful action on dementia. The campaign helps raise understanding of dementia, challenge stigma, and encourage people to seek support earlier. For many families, dementia can feel overwhelming, especially when symptoms begin to affect daily life.
Dementia Action Week creates a clear moment to talk, listen, learn and act.

This year’s theme: Forget Me Not
This year, the Alzheimer’s Society is encouraging people to support the Forget Me Not Appeal. The Forget Me Not badge represents hope, unity and action for everyone affected by dementia. Behind every badge is a personal story of love, loss, resilience, care and support.
Dementia Action Week – how to get involved
By wearing a badge, donating, sharing resources or starting conversations, people can help increase awareness. Businesses, schools, community groups and care providers can also take part by sharing campaign materials. Families can contribute by learning the signs of dementia and encouraging loved ones to seek advice.
Early support can make a significant difference to planning, treatment, confidence and quality of life. Small actions matter, from checking in on a neighbour to supporting a family carer. Dementia Action Week is also a reminder that nobody should face dementia alone.
Dementia home care from Alcedo Care
At Alcedo Care, we understand how important familiar surroundings are for people living with dementia. Our Dementia Home Care Service is designed around each person’s needs, routines and preferences. We provide bespoke, personalised home care for the different stages and types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Our carers support people to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes.
Care plans can include personal care, medication prompts, companionship, meal support, shopping and daily routines. We also encourage reminiscence, life stories, social engagement and activities that will help keep the mind active.
For families, dementia home care can help reduce pressure and provide necessary reassurance. Regular home care visits support independence, while respite care gives family carers time for some well-deserved rest and recouperation.
Live-In dementia care for greater reassurance
For people needing continuous support, Alcedo Live-In Dementia Care provides a reassuring alternative to residential care. Staying at home can protect established routines and reduce the anxiety caused by unfamiliar surroundings. It also helps people remain close to family, friends, neighbours, pets and personal memories; something which is of particular importance to dementia sufferers.
Compassionate dementia care when it matters most
Alcedo Care provides professional dementia care that protects dignity, supports independence and gives families trusted reassurance when they need it most.
