Respite Care

Respite care in its simplest terms is short-term relief for primary carers. You might also hear it referred to as “carers breaks”. It is where a professional carer will come to take care of your loved one, allowing you some time to yourself.

Respite care can be arranged for as short or long a term as you need it. It might just be an afternoon or evening, for one night or for several days or weeks. Respite care from Alcedo Care can be provided in the comfort of your own home, or we can accompany your loved one to an adult day centre.

Respite care can cover several options. You may just need a day off to get some time to yourself, run errands or spend time with other family members.

In this case, our Alcedo carer can come to look after your loved one for a few hours to provide care, support or companionship. We can help with personal care or even complex care, or can simply be there for a cup of tea and a chat!

Alternatively, you may need a longer period of time off, perhaps to go on holiday. Some may think to put their loved on in a care home to receive respite care, but why not consider a live-in carer to provide respite care at home?
