What is a Registered Manager?
A Registered Manager’s role is to oversee the day-to-day running of their branch’s homecare service. They are responsible for ensuring that our service meets all legal and regulatory requirements, including meeting CQC or CIW standards, and to ultimately ensure that we are providing excellent quality, person-centred care to our clients. They are also responsible for managing staff so that they are performing their roles safely and well, managing budgets and contracts for the branch, and working to expand the care service in their area. This might sometimes include setting up new care services.
What qualifications do you need to be a Registered Manager?
To be a registered home care manager you will have worked your way up through a variety of social care roles. You will have gained a wide variety of skills including leadership skills, will be able to motivate others and will have a strategic way of thinking.
On top of all of this, you will need to be an excellent communicator and have good organisation skills as well as a compassionate and caring nature.
What’s the next step after being a Registered Manager?
While you are working as a registered manager you will be able to work towards your Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Adult Care. This is a 1 year course that is the equivalent of a masters course, and will allow you to take further steps into senior management.
