Crisis situations in health and social care rarely come with warning. Whether it’s an urgent hospital discharge, a placement at risk of breakdown, or a sudden safeguarding concern, delays in response can quickly escalate risk, distress and system pressure.
To meet these challenges head-on, Alcedo Care is excited to launch its Rapid Response Team (RRT) – a dedicated, nurse-led service designed to provide immediate, stabilising care within 2 to 4 hours, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A fast, reliable response to crisis
Our Rapid Response Team exists for moments when stability is urgently required. The service provides immediate, short-term intervention to manage crisis situations safely and effectively, while creating space for longer-term solutions to be planned.
The RRT supports children, young people and adults across a wide range of needs, including:
- Mental health crises
- Neurodivergent conditions such as autism and ADHD
- Learning disabilities and associated behaviours of concern
- Urgent hospital discharges
- Safeguarding emergencies involving children and families
With teams ready to deploy in as little as 2 to 4 hours, Alcedo Care offers commissioners and referrers a dependable alternative to escalation, admission or emergency placement.
How the Rapid Response Team benefits commissioners
For commissioners, the Rapid Response Team provides a practical solution to some of the most persistent challenges across health and social care systems.
By mobilising quickly, the RRT can:
- Support safe and timely hospital discharge, reducing delayed discharges and improving patient flow

All crisis packages are nurse-led and overseen by Alcedo Care’s internal Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), including specialist mental health professionals, occupational therapists and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) expertise. This ensures accountability, clinical oversight and evidence-based decision making from day one.
Importantly, Alcedo Care relies entirely on directly employed staff. We do not use agency workers, meaning commissioners can trust in consistent quality, robust governance and reliable delivery – even at short notice.

For individuals and families, a crisis can feel overwhelming. The Rapid Response Team is designed not only to manage risk, but to provide calm, compassionate and reassuring support during periods of extreme stress.
Wherever possible, care is delivered in familiar environments, helping people remain at home and maintain routines. Our teams focus on de-escalation, emotional regulation and restoring stability, while working closely with families, social care, health professionals and education partners.
Once the immediate crisis has passed, Alcedo Care can provide step-down support, transitioning individuals into a sustainable longer-term care package with a permanent team – ensuring continuity rather than disruption.
