We’re delighted to welcome Sarah Wike to Alcedo Care as our new Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead, having joined the team at the end of November.
Sarah brings nearly two decades of experience in social care, alongside a deep passion for understanding people, behaviour and how the right support can truly transform lives. Her journey into care began with a strong interest in psychology and a desire to better understand why people behave the way they do. Being introduced to the principles of behaviour analysis – particularly understanding the function and purpose of behaviour – sparked what has become a long and impactful career.
Sarah holds a Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Applied Behaviour Analysis, and is fully accredited as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). She also holds the UK equivalent accreditation, UKBA (cert), reflecting her commitment to best practice and evidence-based approaches.
Since starting her career in social care in 2007, Sarah has worked across a number of large, well-established organisations including Voyage and Dimensions. Throughout these roles, she has led and embedded PBS strategies at an organisational level, supporting both children and adults with a wide range of needs.
In addition, Sarah spent eight years running her own company, specialising in early intervention. This involved working directly with families of young children – carrying out assessments, training parents, and supporting nurseries and schools through ABA-based therapy and PBS approaches. Her experience spans both Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support, giving her a broad and practical perspective on how these approaches can be used effectively in real-world settings.
At the heart of Sarah’s work is a strong belief in improving quality of life. She is particularly passionate about upskilling – whether that’s helping children develop communication, emotional regulation and daily living skills, or supporting staff teams to understand PBS and the positive difference it can make.
Speaking about her new role, Sarah said:
“I’m really excited to join Alcedo Care. I was attracted by the fact that we can support people throughout their lives, across such a wide range of needs, and by the opportunity to show how PBS can improve the lives of all clients. I’m really looking forward to helping launch, develop and roll out our PBS offering – it’s a fantastic opportunity.”
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughter and travelling whenever she gets the chance.
We’re thrilled to have Sarah on board and look forward to the positive impact her skills and experience will have as we continue to develop and strengthen our PBS offer across Alcedo Care.
