The first Homecare Induction Programme has successfully been delivered in the new Alcedo Care offices at 1 Pittman Court, Pittman Way, Fulwood, Preston, to candidates from both Alcedo Care Preston and Alcedo Care Blackpool & Fylde.
The Highest Possible Levels of Care
To qualify as an Alcedo homecarer, you not only have to pass through a rigorous selection process, but to ensure all our homecare staff are correctly prepared to deliver the highest levels of care, you also have to complete a comprehensive two-day Homecare Induction Programme, led by our Alcedo Care Training Manager, Jessica Armand.

The foundations for this excellent satisfaction rating are laid in our in-house Alcedo Care Homecare Induction Programme. In total, nine candidates benefited from this first Preston-based induction.
Moving & Handling Theory
The two-day course started off with an introduction to Alcedo Care by Blackpool Registered Manager Rosie Caunt, followed by an introduction to moving and handling theory and a seminar discussing basic life support.
Person-Centred Care
Alcedo Training Manager Jessica Armand then introduced the carers to the fundamentals of medication and person-centred care, followed by a comprehensive hands-on moving and handling practical session. This was followed by a session on caring for clients with dementia, with an overview of the Mental Capacity Act and the practical implications of palliative care.
Safeguarding
Rounding off the induction, an introduction to safeguarding was followed by a discussion on tissue viability and interactive sessions on conveen, catheter and stoma care, food safety, food hygiene and Dysphagia.
And we are delighted to be able to report that all nine Alcedo Care Homecare Induction candidates passed the induction with flying colours.
