Alcedo Carer Dan Harris has run an incredible five marathons in a month to raise money for The Bone Cancer Research Trust.

The Bone Cancer Research Trust
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is a small but national charity based in Leeds and is the only charity dedicated to this disease. They fund ground-breaking research, life-saving awareness initiatives and provide dedicated and trustworthy information and support to patients and all their loved ones, all without any government funding. They rely 100% on support, such as Dan’s, to help fund their important, live saving work.
Every 10 minutes somewhere another child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with bone cancer and they face a 5-year chance of survival at little over 50%. This drops even further if the disease is discovered late and has already progressed.

The Marathon Challenge
The Marathon Challenge is to run 26.2 miles, the equivalent of a full marathon, in a month. Dan, who was voted Alcedo Care Preston carer of the month in July for going the extra mile for customers and making sure that all staff are informed of changes in customers personal circumstances at the earliest opportunity, decided to go the extra mile once again and ran not one, but four marathons in a month, plus another full marathon on the last day, making five marathons in all.
Congratulation Dan!
Taking on the challenge, 1219 runners covered a total of 52,335 miles, with Dan completing an impressive 131 of those miles.
We are very proud to have Dan as part of our Alcedo Care Home Care team and congratulate him and everyone who took part in this year’s Cancer Research Marathon Challenge.
