Four senior members of our Blackpool Homecare Team have taken part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s “Jog on Dementia” challenge by running, walking and cycling as many miles as they could in one month, to help raise money for the charity.

Rosie, Katie, Vicki and Sofia are Homecare Managers at Alcedo Care Blackpool and support a team of excellent, highly skilled carers who deliver care and support on a daily basis to vulnerable adults who suffer dementia. With many charities having struggled throughout the pandemic, the Blackpool Homecare Team took on their Jog on Dementia challenge to help keep themselves focussed throughout this difficult period, while raising much-needed funds for this most worthy cause.
Supporting Everyone Affected by Dementia
Dementia does not discriminate. It impacts upon families and currently there is no cure. Until a cure is found, the Alzheimer’s Society exists to support everyone affected by dementia, wherever they are and whatever they are going through.
The charity also conducts and champions research into the causes of dementia and aims to discover a life-changing cure for the debilitating condition. By 2021, one million people across the world will be suffering from dementia.
The UK’s Leading Dementia Charity
As the UK’s leading dementia charity, the Alzheimer’s Society works tirelessly to improve treatment and support and to help create a more dementia-friendly society, so that people with dementia can live free from fear and prejudice. The Society relies on voluntary donations from the public through fundraising and other activities and so the Jog on Dementia challenge will not only help the charity’s supporters improve their fitness, but it will also boost the society’s much needed funds, enabling them to continue their invaluable work.
Alcedo Jog on Dementia: 105.7 Miles & Over £300!
In total, Rosie, Katie, Vicki and Sofia have achieved an incredible Jog on Dementia total of 105.7 miles, raising over £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society, with Vicki running a total of 44.5 miles all on her own!
