Alcedo home carers not only have to pass through a rigorous selection process to become part of our home care team, but to ensure our home care staff are correctly prepared to deliver the highest levels of care, they also have to complete a comprehensive three-day home care training induction programme, led by our in-house trainer Jessica Armand.
Home Carers’ Induction Programme
The home carers’ induction programme, which has recently been extended by Jessica, ensures that care staff deliver increasingly higher standards of care to Alcedo Care home care clients throughout the North West.
Alcedo home carers not only have to pass through a rigorous selection process to become part of our home care team.
But, to ensure our home care staff are correctly prepared to deliver the highest levels of care, they also have to complete a comprehensive three-day home care training induction programme, led by our in-house trainer Jessica.
Home Carers’ Induction Programme
The home carers’ induction programme, which has recently been extended by Jessica, ensures that care staff deliver increasingly higher standards of care to Alcedo Care home care clients throughout the North West. Jessica explains “As Aledo Care constantly strives to raise the bar and improve the quality of home care it delivers, thus our in-house training regime must continue to evolve with it. As a result, our home carers’ induction programme has now been extended to three days, to allow for a greater degree of hands-on, situation-based training, which will more fully prepare our staff to deliver the best possible care.
Practical, Hands-On & Interactive Training
Day one introduces carers to moving and handling theory, followed after lunch by a comprehensive hands-on moving and handling practical session. The day closes with a seminar discussing basic life support. Day two introduces the carers to the fundamentals of medication and person-centred care. The afternoon of day two concentrates on caring for clients with dementia and includes an overview of the Mental Capacity Act and the practical implications of palliative care. The final day of the home carers induction starts with an introduction to safeguarding, followed by a discussion on tissue viability. After lunch, day three concludes with interactive sessions on conveen, catheter and stoma care, food safety, food hygiene and Dysphagia.
Our Trainer – Jessica Armand
Jessica Armand has been working in care since leaving college and has experience in both domiciliary and residential care. She therefore has an excellent knowledge of delivering quality care in a variety of situations. Jessica has a passion for dementia and palliative care, which both feature in her improved Alcedo training programme.
Jessica has been awarded her Train the Trainer Certificates in both Moving & Handling and Basic Life Support. She is also a St John’s Ambulance First Aider and is currently completing her NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care. So, it will come as no surprise that Jessica, who has been fundamental to the new Alcedo Care induction programme, delivers this training across all Alcedo Care branches.
