Event Details
🕑 Date: 30th May, 31st May, 2nd June – 1pm-3pm
📍 Location: Alcedo Care, 9 Waterside Court, St Helens WA9 1UA
🤔 Who is it for?: Anyone caring for or supporting a loved one with dementia, or those who want to understand more about the challenges it brings!
“Empathy is about standing in someone else’s shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place.”
🧠 See life through their eyes:
There are 209,600 new cases of dementia in the UK each year. It’s a condition that touches many of our families, and so many of us at Alcedo Care not only care for clients living with dementia, but care for loved ones experiencing dementia as well. We have some practical activities planned on this event that will provide an insight into the challenges that a loved one with dementia may experience day to day.
🤝 Find a supportive community:
Supporting a family member who has dementia can be a challenging experience – come and grab a coffee in a supportive environment where we are here to listen. As a family-run business passionate about delivering family values, we are proud to provide a supportive environment where individuals, families, and caregivers (professional or not) can come together to share experiences, tips, and strategies for managing dementia.
🎓 Connect with friendly local experts in Dementia Care:
Our event will be run by Melanie Lyon, our Alcedo Care St Helens Registered Manager and Jade Murphy, our lead Coordinator. Between them they have over 30 years of care experience with extensive experience working with people living with dementia. As such Mel and Jade will be able to provide invaluable guidance, answer any questions you may have, and offer practical tips to help you navigate the complexities of supporting a loved one with dementia.
🍰 Giving back to support dementia
We’ll be running a cake & coffee sale on the day to raise money for Alzheimers’s Society, our corporate charity. This UK charity supports people with dementia and their families, and their fundraising funds over 600 research projects to find the best ways to get early diagnosis, innovate care and develop targeted treatments.
