Make a child’s Christmas with our travelling grotto!
We are very excited to be welcoming an extremely important guest to our branches throughout December to help with our Christmas Toy Appeals!
Father Christmas has been in touch with us and has said he would love to come and say hello to the young families of our staff and clients across the North West. He’ll be visiting each of our Alcedo Care branches to spread some Christmas cheer, along with our feathered friend Al who is stepping in for his elves.
Father Christmas’s sleigh is in the elf’s workshop for its MOT and service, so Father Christmas will be using our amazing events vehicle, transformed into a grotto worthy of the big man himself.

What is the Toy Appeal?
We’re looking to support our local communities, aiming to ensure no child wakes up without a toy on Christmas day. Our Merseyside branches will be collecting donations for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, while our Cheshire, Wales, Lancashire and Cumbria branches will be collecting for Cash4Kids Mission Christmas.
Your child won’t go away empty handed though, each visitor will receive a chocolate selection box in return for a Toy Appeal donation.
What can I donate?
We welcome gifts for children aged 0-18 – both charities say they are particularly in need of gifts for babies and older teenagers. It can be something small or something bigger, anything you think a child would be pleased to unwrap on Christmas day. What’s important is that it is unwrapped, new, in its original packaging and has BSI kitemarks. Here are some ideas for gifts for all age groups:
- 0-3 Years – books, building blocks, bibs, teething rings
- 3-5 Years – dolls, cars, scooters, puzzles
- 5-7 Years – colouring books, jigsaws, arts and crafts kits
- 7-9 Years – remote control toys, footballs, science kits
- 9-12 Years – board games, scarves and hats, stationery, fidget toys
- 12-15 Years – hot water bottles, pyjamas, warm clothes
- 15- 18 Years – hairdryers, makeup, headphones, books, deodorant
We CANNOT ACCEPT second-hand toys or clothes, nor can we accept food items.
Can’t make it on the day but would still like to donate to our Toy Appeal? Drop off your donation at your local branch before Friday 15th December. Alternatively, visit our Mission Christmas or Alder Hey appeal pages to find out how you can donate online.
