Jane – Group Head of Operations

Jane – Group Head of Operations

My name is Jane Williamson, and in June 2023, I had the privilege of joining Alcedo Care as the Operations Manager for their Bury, Blackburn, and Preston branches. With over 20 years of experience in Operations, encompassing both commercial enterprises and the Health Care sector, I was immediately drawn to Alcedo Care after meeting its Directors, Jo and Andy.

As the Group Head of Operations, my primary focus is on enhancing operational efficiency, identifying areas for improvement, maintaining the highest quality standards, and driving the growth of our business. My ultimate goal is to ensure that both our clients and staff are genuinely happy with Alcedo Care and feel valued.

The company’s positive reputation on social media, its unwavering focus on providing top-quality care, and the evident value placed on its staff made it an enticing opportunity. I was further captivated by Alcedo Care’s commitment to its core values, the nurturing family-like atmosphere, and ambitious growth plans. The diversity of services Alcedo Care offers, including children’s services, nursing, and various domiciliary and complex care packages, convinced me that this was the right career opportunity I wanted to pursue.

Previously, my career began in an entirely different field – Marine Biology – where I studied at the University of St. Andrews, conducted research at the North American Arctic Research Centre and even spent a summer on a small island in the Bristol Channel. Along the way, I acquired some unique skills, like driving tractors and caring for rescued seal pups, among other random yet rewarding experiences.

Transitioning to Operations in a wide range of commercial companies gave me a deep dive into operational management and I had the opportunity to be responsible for delivering exhibition stands for big Brand Names across the world. However, as life evolved and my daughters became my top priority, I felt a strong pull towards the care sector. That decision proved to be life-changing, as I discovered my true passion – making a positive impact on people’s lives through my work every day.

What drives me is ensuring that our dedicated staff feels valued, heard, engaged, and motivated to deliver the best-personalised care for each individual we support.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, as well as spending the weekends kayaking, camping, wild swimming, gardening and church.
